Finally slowing down

Hello my lovelies,

In this most marvelous of cities, I have finally been slowed down. This cold is killing me. How unfun to be home-bound when there is so much exciting stuff to do... I was supposed to leave to go camping for the weekend with a fun group of Couchsurf friends (quick note: Couchsurfing is a wonderful community of open-minded people around the world who open their homes and cities to travelers from all around the world-- a lovely group who have really welcomed me into BsAs), but alas I am skiping the fun of freezing in the woods, for the fun of drinking tea and coughing up some nasty stuff...This, I resolve, will not last. Today is the only day that it is exceptable to take off. I will be drinking tea (with lemon and honey) until it oozes out of my pores, until this ugh feeling is gone and I am back on the streets of BsAs, once again loving the flow of this place.

I know I have been a less than ideal blogger. I do not know if it is the whirlwind of being in a city this big and interesting, or simply that while my days are full, it is hard to say with what exactly. I am still taking my spanish classes, trying to speak whenever I can, and mostly learning this place. I'm not sure if I have ever interacted with a city quite this big before. It can, at times, be overwhelming. At times enlightening. And other times, it simply feels as if I'm going through the motions of life in the big city... so much has transpired. I will try to update with more details on a later post... As for now, I've decided to spend an additional week in BsAs. I've made some friends and have that sinking feeling that there's so much I have yet to do in this city... Once I am well again, I will be focusing my attention on these things. Then again, one always leaves a place wanting more time there... This, should not be too much of a problem, as I am most confident that I will be visiting (living in?) this city once again. Also, my mind is now starting to think upon the adventure. 5 weeks in a place is nice, adventure on the road is also nice-- much to be excited about.

As for now, my nose is full and my head feels close to explosion. So I will close this post with a beso and a sneeze.

Mucho love and mucus from BsAs,
Amy

  1. Hi Toots,

Really sounds like you're suffering, but with that attitude of yours, it shouldn't be long. It's Sunday the 4th as I read this, and I suspect that you have resumed your hectic pace in this city which has captivated you so. You sound like you are on the horns of a dilemma, deciding between the pleasures of further getting to know such an exciting, interesting place and the lure of the open road and the unknown which beckons. You have seen a good chunk of the world already, (surpassing us) and for you to speak so glowingly about a city when you have seen so many others along the way, tells us just how fantastic a place it must be. Hopefully, we'll get there one day. Meanwhile, in your travels, we have no doubt that you will find the right answer in your heart and in your gut (i.e. stay or go on), and you will go with it. You've still got so much time left for this adventure, and chances are that you won't nearly see and do all the things you have on your agenda. Still, you are making memories for a lifetime, and it's all good (barring the current minor setback!) We think and talk about you alot, always wondering how you are doing, and whether you are happy. We are also constantly being asked how your trip is going and whether we have heard from you lately. It's nice to be able to answer in the affirmative. So many people love you and are interested in your experiences. I've referred lots to your blog, as you know.

We do hope that you are feeling better now, and we can't wait to hear more details and to see your pix, once you're returned home to Montreal.

Stay well, and above all else, stay safe. You remain our Amazing Amy.

    Love,
    Dad and Mom
